Imagine a video call where you are not only looking at another person but able to see into their world, almost as if you were standing opposite them.
Researchers at Microsoft - the owner of Skype - are working on just that: a "magic window", where interactions are more natural than ever.
The BBC's North America technology correspondent Richard Taylor tried out the technology at the firm's headquarters near Seattle.
